I stumbled across this article which I found interesting, mainly because it's quite statistic heavy, even though I haven't been able to check whether the stats actually true.

Ignoring the political slant of the 'blame Democrats for it all' message, it seems to make some valid points. I do agree that gangs are the last people that gun control would disarm, which is why I oppose it. I don't think I agree that gangs can smuggle guns in to the country as easily as drugs, which are rather easier to hide (ow swallow!). I do think, though, that they could smuggle them in in significant numbers. Looking at the numbers here it does seem to make a decent case that gun control would be ineffective as it's not related to the real problem the USA has with violence.
Any thoughts?
