Should we arm black youths?

The NRA has gone on record as stating that more guns equals less crime. And they have the stats that might seem to prove it (it could just be correlation).

Gun Ownership at All-Time High, Nation’s Murder Rate at Nearly All-Time Low

Granting the NRA's premise that more guns equals less crime, would you support programs to provide low-cost and/or no cost weapons in order to arm poor black youths?

This is not sarcasam. It's not an attempt at "gotcha". My question is sincere and based on a in interview between Tavis Smiley and Bill O'Reilly. Please note that the thread is not about Smiley or O'Reilly.

In the interest of full disclosure, my feelings when I first heard Smiley state that we should arm all black youths revealed a racial bias on my part. My first thought was that arming black youths would cause crime to increase. Which took me back, I had not expected that reaction.

I don't know if there is a right answer here. I'm sincerely curious about what thoughtful gun owners think and feel about that question. While doing some research on racial attitudes and guns I came across the following photo.

Again, had I seen these pictures separately without labels, I would have assumed the upper photo benign and the lower photo to be that of a thug. BTW: If you think you are free of bias then I recommend you take the hidden bias test.

Again, I'm not trying to be polemic or provocative. I'd honestly like sincere opinions and to have a discussion.
