After she shared a story about Donald Trump's ex-wife, Marla Maples, on Facebook reporter Olivia Nuzzi received threatening messages from Mike Krawitz including;
In fact the messages are nothing new, according to Nuzzi, who says Krawitz has been harassing her for more than a year. Krawitz (a Republican and supporter of The Trumpet) is running (for the fourth time) for a seat on the West Deptford Township Committee. (That's a little place in New Jersey BTW).
Krawitz claimed his Facebook account was hacked, though he also says he "might have" written an earlier offensive message to Nuzzi in December.
Krawitz also says that The Daily Beast "is a Democratic organization, I don't even follow that stuff. I don't go on those websites".
The West Deptford GOP claims it "does not condone any repulsive, threatening, or demeaning rhetoric in any social media form or otherwise" but has taken no action against Krawitz. It also said it was contacting Twitter for information on the (alleged) account hack; this is somewhat surprising (or maybe not) given that the messages were sent via Facebook.
Nuzzi dismissed the claims of an account hack; "I don't buy the idea that someone hacked a low-level local political candidate a year ago and spent all that time harassing a journalist on there for sport". She believes he's just an idiot; "not Internet-savvy enough to know that people can see what he says or he doesn't care".
