Updating Flash in Google Chrome

Flash is embedded in Google Chrome, and is updated through Google automatically.

So when I got the message that Flash needed updating, I updated Flash for all other browsers.

Then I checked Chrome. Adobe tells me the installed version of the embedded Flash, which is the previous one. In the list, it tells me that a new version is available for Chrome.

Chrome tells me it's up-to-date. I even downloaded the current version from Google, and got the exact same file that's already on my machine (same creation date -- today -- and everything). But Chrome-embedded-Flash remains steadfastly OUT-of-date.

Needless to say, I find it a bit disconcerting to run the outdated Flash version. I know I could just run the Flash plugin externally in Chrome -- but I run Chrome because of the automatic embedding of Flash specifically. (No need to rant about privacy issues and that I tell Google everything I do -- I KNOW. I HAVE ADAPTED TO THAT. LEAVE ME ALONE ABOUT THAT.)

There's no way to update the embedded Flash plugin manually. Or does someone here know a way? (All the Google forums/help files/FAQs etc. do not seem to mention a way.)
