The Alt Right

This is not your father's Oldsmobile conservatism. It's the new, edgy, Internet-savvy right wing ideology. Might be more gay-friendly (possibly) than the old conservatism, but it's also more race-based.

For a quick primer, here is the Wikipedia article:

Alt-right
Quote:

The alt-right is a segment of right-wing ideologies[1] presented as an alternative to mainstream conservatism in the politics of the United States.[1] The alt-right has been described as a movement unified by support for Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump,[2][3][4] as well as opposition to multiculturalism and immigration.[5]

There is no official ideology associated with the alt-right, but various sources have linked it to white nationalism,[6][7] white supremacism[2][5][8] and antisemitism.[2][5][9] The alt-right has also been associated with policies such as right-wing populism,[6][10] libertarianism,[11][12] nativism[13] and the neoreactionary movement.[8][14]

The alt-right has been said to be a largely online movement and internet memes are widely used to advance or express their beliefs, often on websites such as 4chan; much of the coverage of the alt-right has focused on the memes it has produced.[2][8][9][15][16][17]
Quote:

The term's modern usage, however, is most commonly attributed to white nationalist and self-described "identitarian" Richard B. Spencer, president of the National Policy Institute and founder of Alternative Right.[6][22]
Here is the article on Spencer:

Richard B. Spencer

Quote:

Richard Bertrand Spencer (born May 11, 1978) is an American writer, publisher, and self-described "identitarian" known for promoting white supremacist views.[1][2][3] He is president of the National Policy Institute, a white nationalist think-tank, and Washington Summit Publishers, an independent publishing firm.

Spencer advocates for a white homeland for a "dispossessed white race" and calls for "peaceful ethnic cleansing" to halt the "deconstruction" of European culture.[4][5][6]
Quote:

The Anti-Defamation League cited him in 2013 as "a leader in white supremacist circles", and says that since his time at The American Conservatism, he has rejected conservatism, because according to Spencer, its adherents "can't or won't represent explicitly white interests".[13]
That's where the alt-right's favorite insult "cuckservative" comes from: conservatives who "can't or won't represent explicitly white interests".

Quote:

In a 2016 interview for Time, Spencer said that he rejected white supremacy and slavery of nonwhites, preferring to establish a white ethnostate.[14]
