The latest victim in Australia’s purge of scientists doing climate research is John Church, one of the world’s foremost experts in measuring sea level rise. Half of the climate scientists working for the Marine and Climate division in Australia’s CSIRO have already been dismissed.

The excuse the Australians government has given is they want to do research on mitigation instead, how they are supposed to do this without knowing what they need to mitigate against remains a mystery. Given the extensive history of climate science denial rhetoric they have engaged in, it’s pretty clear the real reason is to attack scientists performing research they want buried.
