I just ran a simple computer model of three core columns, one damaged one holding load, and one on the other side undamaged, failure occurs at the weld joint of an unprotected Column at 431.5 C, and the no jolt is possible because the welds fail.
Using the correct weld strength provided to me by another member and structural details of the core, weld failure would lead to core failure and guess what, the theory is easily falsified, can you guess how?
