Recognizing "Child" marriages from abroud

http://ift.tt/1M2ncCd

Reading this article made me wonder whether it's reasonable to legally recognize marriages involving "children". That is anyone under the age of 18. Upto a couple of years ago it was possible in Sweden to get married even if they were under the of 18 but they have since removed that option, mainly because the people who used that exemption were migrants that didn't want their daughters to have sex outside of marriage.

However that doesent apply to marriages from outside of Sweden. So lets say that hypotheically a 15 year old and a 21 year old were married in another country. They move to Sweden and for one reason or another legal recognition of their marriage becomes relevant.

Why shouldn't their marriage be recognized as legally valid? They are both old enough so that there's no legal issues with them having intercourse. Is it about not trying to support youths getting pregnant and resigning themselves to role of a housewife to early, thus ruining their chances of getting a good education?
