How much black hole would it take?

Just out of idle curiosity, how massive would a black hole have to be to significantly damage the Earth? To destroy it utterly? How massive would it have to be to destroy the Sun, and would such a black hole threaten the Earth (aside from removing the primary source of solar energy, and the resulting gravity disruption)? Assume, of course, that we can create black holes of any given mass at will, anywhere at will...

And how tiny would a black hole be for us to be able to contain it?
