Help me understand how to use the Internet.

I somewhat frequently call up a website on my iPad. It may take ten seconds to load. I will start reading and after about ten seconds, the screen goes blank, I get an error saying that the page needs to be reloaded, and it takes about ten seconds to reload the page. I start reading again and approximately ten seconds later the whole cycle starts again.

What am I doing wrong?
