Starving holocost survivors dying after being fed

I've read in medical journals that when the extermination camps were being liberated efforts by common soldiers to give food to the skeletal prisoners often resulted in the starving prisoner going into shock and dying.



My father who was an MP verified this. He saw it with his own eyes.



Why would a few spoonfuls of K rations do this?
