How often does this happen?

My mother told me her Uncle on her fathers side grew up and married a woman. Apparently he and his wife left and they were never heard from again. I always thought this was a rare occurance until a friend of mines sister did the same thing. She seemed close to her older brother but she got a divorce, remarried and is now whereabouts unknown and has been for years.



How often and why should this happen? Neither person in either story suffered any abuse.
