First off watch the advertisement and see if you can spot the element that has the conservatives in America apoplectic with seizure inducing rage.
Did you miss it?
Lots of people did miss it. But when I saw it run last night the first thing that came to my mind was "oh that will piss off Republicans by reminding them that this is a country of immigrants; a fact they really wish they could erase from history."
And, of course, I was right. Right after it aired #boycottcoke actually became a thing. Followed by a slew of Twitter rants that I will get to later. But let us start off with what conservative pundits think of all this.
First off we have Glenn Beck who thinks the real purpose of the ad was divide America by deliberately provoking conservatives: "if you don't like it, if you're offended by it, then you're a racist ... That's all this is, is to divide people."
That's right. They made an advert featuring people of many faces with the diabolical intent of making Real Americans look bad when they explode with racist fury. That is some grade A Machiavellian mischief right there.
The full Beck rant:
The Right Scoop came up with this interesting theory:
So...first off, unbeknownst to me we now have an official language. When did this happen?
Also, our culture is derived from the English language. How does that work? Picasso painted what he did because he spoke English? Jazz, Rock & Roll and Hip Hop were all invented because their creators spoke English?
***
Then Breitbart got their say on it.
So....an ad that spotlights the fact that America is made up of immigrants somehow is dishonoring our heritage? Do conservatives think that the people in America just sprung out of the dirt speaking English while killing all the natives?
And how does this in any way subvert the Constitution?
Ugh.
Then ex-Rep. Allen West (R-FL) gave us his thoughts on all this.
Yeah....clearly we all knew the road to hell was paved with an acknowledgment that America is made up of people from all over the world. I mean that is so obvious.
And now on to the comments left on Twitter and Youtube. Drink it up conservatives. These are your people. This is your legacy.
Yes, cue our hippie comments.
I only now live in America because lots of people crossed oceans to be in this country. My paternal grandmother even did the immigration thing illegally. I have no problem with a commercial that recognizes this by showing the languages of all the disparate parts of the world that now form the social and cultural agglomeration that we have named the United State of America; a nation that just happened to write its constitution in English because it was convenient at the time. We are a powerful and rich nation thanks to that diversity and any attempt to disavow it is an attempt to disregard the very thing that has made the nation what it is today.

[i]n a day and age where no political party is willing to fix our porous border, I can understand the outrage. America has a culture of its own, primarily denoted by our official language, English, and there are many in our society who would like to destroy that culture and are working hard at doing exactly that. Whether or not this was Cokes idea as the basis for this commercial, I dont know. |
So...first off, unbeknownst to me we now have an official language. When did this happen?

As far as the executives at Coca Cola are concerned, however, the United States of America is no longer a nation ruled by the Constitution and American traditions in which English is the language of government. It is not a nation governed in the Anglo-American tradition of liberty. It is instead a nation governed by some all inclusive multi-cultural synthesis of the various forms of government in the world, as expressed by the multiple languages used in the Super Bowl ad to sing a uniquely American hymn that celebrates our heritage. |
So....an ad that spotlights the fact that America is made up of immigrants somehow is dishonoring our heritage? Do conservatives think that the people in America just sprung out of the dirt speaking English while killing all the natives?

If we cannot be proud enough as a country to sing American the Beautiful in English in a commercial during the Super Bowl, by a company as American as they come doggone we are on the road to perdition |

No more Coca-Cola for me. As if doing business with the nazis during world war two wasnt bad enough, Coke is now one of those multi-national corporations that is a huge supporter of illegal immigration and multiculturalism. |
Quote:
So now Coca Cola is promoting the Genocide of American European whites !Perhaps its more fitting than they realise; coca cola is after all a toxic substance which causes damage to the body, much like how multiculturalism is highly toxic and causes damage to whatever nation its inflicted on. Took a beautiful song that is sacred to the American people, one that we have always sung with national pride, and totally trashed it. Absolutely disgusting. I guess our national language is no longer English. Saw every degenerate represented : illegal hispanics, muslims, gays, jews. This is the new America. Drink up. |

This commercial is in bad taste in my opinion. This song should not be sung in any other language except English. American things should be kept AMERICAN, and that in no way shape or form means languages from other countries. That attitude has gone by the wayside and people seem to love including aspects from other countries instead of being proud of their own. Not to mention, any time anyone ever feels that way, these brainless liberals yell IGNORANCE! and RACISM! any chance they get, it's ********. Stop driving your Prius, listening to your brain dead pop music, stop electing god awful presidents and wake up. Buy a Chevrolet, watch a baseball game and keep America, AMERICAN. cue the hippie comments. |
