Message boards seem to be in decline as social network traffic increases. I have long wondered why some of the heated board debates haven't been continued on Skype or Google 'hang out' so they could be recorded and posted on YouTube. A link to the discourse could then be put in the thread where the discussion was occurring.
Look at all the crossposts and noise that inhibits most online dialectics. Then there's the comprehension enhancement adding all the audio cues missing in text. Tonality; cadence; confidence; response speed. Questions can be asked directly, and repeated if there is either no reply or an inadequate one. Issues that can take weeks to resolve online covered in minutes through direct interaction.
So what am I missing here? A while back I suggested this approach to the 2 primary antagonists on the aquatic ape conjecture that had been going at it online for over 15 years. They had never spoken to one another directly, yet both declined. I don't get it.
Accounts on both Skype and Google are easy enough to set up using false ID's. The record software is free and easy to use, as are YT posts. I would much appreciate input on why members here think this isn't happening.
