I'll make this short: As of the last couple years, my computer has been having several episodes of having a very hard time to load stuff. One of my theories was that I was running out of memory, but a quick lookup into my Storage stats, shows that I have 339.75 GB free of 498.88 GB. In other words, I have more than half of the memory space free.
Recently I had a Mac technician check my computer to see if there was any programs running that were making the Processor Memory have problems computing, but it wasn't the case. So far, everything seems good.
But every now and then, something like this happens:
I got this error recently as I had opened my project and immediately, as I hit the Play button, I got the spinning marble of doom, followed by that (After I clicked "ok", I was able to playback the audio normally, though. So it's that critical of a situation)
For those unfamiliar with Logic, it's a Digital Audio Workstation for writing, arranging and mixing music. And while these are known for taking up a lot of processing memory, according to two technicians who have diagnosed my computer, this shouldn't be happening.
But that last error message seems to be suggesting that the problem is in the Hard Drive. Being a relatively old computer, this one has a physical hard drive, so it seems like I need to switch to a digital one.
Has anyone here had their hard drives replaced and what was your experience? Also, do you think it's worth performing the surgical procedure of replacing my hard drive for a digital one, or is it better to just get a brand new computer with a digital hard drive?
My computer stats:
MacBook Pro OS X El Capitan
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
