Gas inside a corpse making sounds as it flows over the vocal cords

I was talking to a mortician and she said the source of a ghost moaning is the phenomena of gas in a decomposing body activating the vocal cords. She says this sometimes even happens in a coffin and on rare occasions can be heard from with a vault.

This actually happened to me when I was a teenager.
