Gwen Moore is a state rep in Wisconsin. In response to the state's push to have drug testing for welfare recipients, she has proposed requiring drug tests for all those who claim more than $150K in itemized deductions. Hey, if you are going to be given such generous treatment from the state, you have to prove you are clean, right?

This is brilliant. It won't pass, of course, but it really is hard to argue. The government is giving them benefits by allowing them to deduct lots and lots of stuff and that's fine. But why shouldn't they be expected to be drug free to get it?
