I'm not an astronomer, but do use my layman's fascination for this sometimes in my chemistry classes.
Given that earth's non Hydrogen materials originated in a supernova in the distant past, I wonder if there are likely candidates located nearby. Or was the supernova event so long ago that there just is no way to know?
