"The United States has spent more money on Afghanistan's reconstruction than it did on the Marshall Plan in post-war Europe.... unprecedented levels of corruption and waste in Afghanistan have pushed the cost of reconstruction there well beyond those levels. It has so far cost more than $109 billion dollars, as opposed to the Marshall Plan's $103.4 billion in today's money. "
