There are times when a program is doing an operation which takes a long time and which uses up CPU power. For example, when Cubase is processing a large sound file or, as is the case at the moment, the downloader for an MMO I'm installing is being an absolute hog. Programs using that much CPU means that even doing things like browsing the internet can become difficult.
So does anybody know of any way to select certain processes and limit their CPU usage? Like, say, select the Cubase process and tell the computer that I don't want it to run using more than 90% of the CPU? I know you can give it a low priority, but that doesn't actually stop 100% of the CPU being used.
I'm running Windows 7.
