Good, free, 3-D modeling software recommendations?

I have a project I need to create an accurate 3-D model of in order to get a quote for getting a mold cut. I know there are several decent products out there, but rather than trust "on the box" praise, and spend money I really don't have, I like to get a nice, user friendly, free piece of software online. Knowing there has to be someone in our community that has first hand working knowledge of such things, I'd turn here first. I have CorelDRAW! 9 now, and have a fairly decent working knowledge of it's drawing features, but it doesn't have 3-D modeling capabilities.
I made this in Corel in just a few minutes...

So I sort of know what I'm doing, but what I need needs to be a full, rotatable 3-D model when finished.
Thoughts and recommendations welcome.
