I'm going to be seventy soon and many of my friends have passed away. Others have moved far away and I haven't seen them in decades.
My biggest problem with death is how soon your name or any mention of you stops. You die and three weeks later its as if you never existed.
I'm a chronic asthmatic and my psychiatrist says that my friendships gravitate towards other individuals with their own chronic health problems, diabetes, heart trouble etc. Asthma usually isn't fatal but the problem is you outlive very decent people and friends.
I guess I'll be gone soon myself but it does pain me to think that after I am gone I will join the people who have gone before me and will soon cease to be a topic of conversation.
