Does anyone have inside or technical information regarding the antiquated system the emergency service uses??
With modern digital technology ... why do Police radio transmissions still sound exactly like they did in the 1940's (static, garbled, unintelligible etc etc)
I'm not a huge fan, but occasionally listen in on the calls ... every half hour or so the officers or dispatch will ask for a repeat ... as the voices just CANNOT be understood .. I've often heard them give up apperantly use their cell phones
Surely there must be a better system available intros day and age??
AND ... again (with modern digital technology) why do they let everyone listen in?
You can over hear dozens of peoples address, phone numbers, date of birth, arrest records, even their prescription medication, and licence plate numbers every day.
Any crook would be foolish not to turn on their iPhone app and listen in, so they know if the cops are on their way.
