First, we had the revolting case of Martin Shkreli raising a cancer drug price by 5000%, now we have Epipen having raised its price from $50 to $300 in the space of 9 years - when the cost of manufacture has increased by maybe 10%.
I love the completely coincidental fact that both the price of Epipen and the CEO's salary have risen by about 600% in exactly the same time frame.
Worse, as Skreli himself stated - everyone's doing it!
I know from heavy publicity in NZ that the cancer wonder drug Herceptin is so expensive it can't be funded from the public purse. It's not the only one, with Rich Lister Doug Myers keeping himself alive on drugs not available to people who can't buy it for themselves.
Drug patents are a beautiful thing.
