The answer is simple. You're dead, as are the 14 people on this one.
People who work on the off shore rigs are taken to and from their work on helicopters in the North Sea, in the Gulf of Mexico, off of Nigeria, and so on.
It doesn't happen often, but that isn't the first time it all came off. It isn't the first time it all ended in tears.
Those five blades stayed attached to the hub and the swashplate and parts of the mast/transmission all the way down. A testament to how robustly these things are built. But it just takes one screw up ...
RIP.
And maybe RIP to the company who runs those birds. CHC just filed for Chapter 11.
