During a debate on new laws that would ban abortion in the state, even in cases of rape, incest, fetal non-viability or risk to the mother's life, a Republican Representative (Tila Hubrecht) was asked by a Democrat (Lauren Arthur)
"Do you believe that it’s just or compassionate to force a woman who’s been raped to have the child of the man who raped her?".
Ms. Hubrecht answered that "Sometimes bad things happen, and they’re horrible things. But sometimes God can give us a silver lining through the birth of a child".
The bill passed, 112-36.
