This was poorly and haphazardly written; eg they kept mixing discussion about sugar helping to CAUSE cancer and sugar helping the SPREAD of cancer in people who already have it, which was idiotic and irresponsible (but hey, we are talking the media...). I also found this quote odd to say the least: "A lot of patients are told it doesn't matter what you eat after you are diagnosed with cancer." What idiot doctors are saying this?
That said, it would seem this lends credence to the "sugar feeds cancer" claimants to at least some extent.
I also have to wonder if sugar substitutes might be better or not, and if so how much........
Just generally throwing this out there, I guess.
PS this stat blew my mind, I'd like to see it backed up though: " fructose consumption in the U.S. surged from about half a pound a person a year in 1970 to more than 62 pounds a year in 1997. That's mainly due to the broad use of high fructose corn syrup."
