Lee Berger and Homo Naledi, is he "doing it wrong"?

I was enthralled by the "Dawn of Humanity" NatGeo special, and have been following the news since. The openness of the team with regard to access to the fossils is gratifying. But some folks don't see it that way. "Premature", "media circus", "stunt", etc., are thrown about.

Do you think the old school needs to get with it and join the 21st Century's electronic age, or is the conventional way safer and more reliable?
