Closest 'goldilocks' planet found at only 14 ly away

A planet has been detected orbiting the red dwarf star Wolf 1061, which is only 14 light years away.

It's one of 3 planets of the right size to be rocky that they've found orbiting that star. But one of them is also in the goldilocks zone where it's the right temperature for liquid water on the surface.

Although two things are going to keep it from being a sister earth. It's bigger, with 1.8 times the gravity we have here. And it's most likely tidally locked with the star making 1 side always day and the other always night. Although theoretically there could be a band of just right temperatures ringing the planet.

The next generation of telescopes, including James Webb set to launch in a few years should be able to tell us quite a bit about it.
