I ask because of a discussion elsewhere with a friend. She showed me a video on a German speakers Facebook page. The subtitle given by the Facebook person was "The War Begins." My friend says the video was taken yesterday in France. No further details.
In the upper left corner of the video is the logo for "LiveLeak."
I am trying to find the video in context, but regardless how I phrase my searches, I cannot find the video elsewhere (including on LiveLeak), and I cannot find any reports from any news agency about violent protests yesterday in France.
I don't know if you'll be able to link to the video on Facebook, but here goes anyway.
If you can't see it, I'm not sure a description will help. It starts with people running up an outside staircase (the wide kind that lead between street levels) followed by general but not catastrophic mayhem. Someone uses a sign pole to bash a hole in the sidewalk. Others kick and try to overturn a police car. Large groups of men who may or may not be involved walk down a street with agitated noise in the background. A scene of men throwing sticks or something at the police. Police in riot gear sometimes stand by, sometimes run at groups of protestors, other times throw tear gas.
It's not really the video I'm looking for, though. That's just the starting point. What I want to know is were there really violent demonstrations in France yesterday, or is this someone using a video from another time to falsely attribute it to the present?
