Demise of a website...traffic.

I've belonged to a website since 2001 that seems to be circling the drain. The owner of the site claims it is healthier than ever and cites statistics to back his claim. All I know is, posts stay for days on the first page and they used to be dozens of pages back within a day, just a few years back. The site has pretty strict rules and somewhat overzealous moderation imo. I feel that the demographic is aging and many users got tired of being vacationed incessantly and have moved on. I was never a frequent poster on that board same as this board. I have been vacationed a few times and banned a couple times. Each time it has happened I have gained re-admittance but with less interaction from me on subsequent re-commissioning's.
I'm sad that the board seem's to be dying as it has been a wealth of information to me over the years. Do any of you have similar experiences. Is there anything that can be done to cause the tide to turn back?
