Technologically I'm a bit of an odd fish. I don't get on well with the Apple user interface and as a result am currently using a Sony MP3 player, a Windows PC, a Surface tablet and a Nokia Lumia phone.
The phone is on a 2 year contract and is due for replacement around Christmas this year. Since the mid-90s I've been a Nokia phone user and my main reasons for sticking with Nokia (or I guess Microsoft) are:
The main thing I don't like is the lack of apps.

The above article, and others like it, seem to indicate that Microsoft may be pulling out of the phone hardware market and that other manufacturers will continue to support Android. Does this mean I will have to make the painful switch to Android, and will this mean I will no longer have voice guidance software ?

- I haven't had a Nokia phone fail on me or Mrs Don in nearly 20 years and maybe 30+ handsets (once PAYG and others are taken into account)
- I actually like Windows 8.1 on the phone
- Here+ Maps allows me to cache whole countries worth of maps and get voice guidance without incurring any data charges. My provider, 3, allows me to use my data allowance in many countries, but not all
The main thing I don't like is the lack of apps.
