Charanpreet Singh Dhaliwal was murdered while guarding a civil contracting company's premises in Auckland.
Thanks almost entirely to the idiotic rule that juries cannot be told of past crimes, the perpetrator, Hateni Latu, has got away scot-free.
Both of his own mates gave him up for the crime, saying he was guilty, but the jury believed there was insufficient evidence.
Had they realised Latu had an extremely violent history, they may have not been perusaded of his innocence so lightly.
This is a crime where it is known that one of three men committed a murder, yet none of them will ever serve a day in jail for it.
Injustice isn't a one-way street. The coroner's finding will be very interesting.
