Do unknown answers actually exist?

I've been trying to devise some sort of title that might make some sense but that's the best I can do. I've been thinking of this for some time..

I had my hand on the handrail of an escalator the other day and I thought to myself how many hands had been on that escalator that day. A thousand? 10 thousand? The number probably could probably never been worked out (I don't think there was CCTV there). But what I wonder about these unanswerable questions is this: does that number actually exist? There has to be an exact number of hands on the handrail somewhere in the cosmos but does it actually exist before discovery? Somewhere? I'm on a bus at the moment passing through oxford circus, someone I know is probably nearby but I will not meet them here, does the fact that someone I know is somewhere nearby exist?
