Yes, there are the image slideshows and proliferation of pagination and infinite scrolls, but I am talking about "good" design.

I don't like it. Confusing, redundant, and hard to navigate, or even know to scroll down oftentimes.

There is this rumor that a certain (short) line length is the easiest to use. This guy also has huge text:

Personally, I don't find this more readable, whatever that design book says. Somehow this is all a result of one study, which doesn't actually say what people summarise it as saying.
We need to go back to animated, repeated background images with Comic Sans text in neon colours.
