So I have this Time Machine, making back up copies for months, looks great, everything is there.
Then my hard drive fails. I get a new one, and I restore my data. OK, but now it starts a new set of back ups and partitions off all the old back ups. Makes no friggin sense.
Might not matter but then I get a problem probably from some corrupt files that happened as the hard drive failed. That's what the diagnosis was. Back to the Apple store, got the new hard drive reformatted to clear off whatever corrupt file I had installed.
I was hoping to go back a few months into a backup that was made well before the old hard drive failed. Trouble is, now I can only make new back ups. I can't get to a single older back up. And after choosing to only load the files and not applications, this time it started backing up again and even made the last backup inaccessible that had MS Office on it I was hoping to download later.
This absolutely sucks. What were the designers thinking? What's the point of having all those back ups only to find out once you use one, that's it, you lose every thing else on the drive!
I don't suppose any of you know how to get to the inaccessible files on the Time Capsule drive?
I know files are recoverable. I had a program once that could recover deleted files the computer couldn't open. No one at Apple had an answer but I am going to be contacting them again. I want my money back.
If anyone is using or thinking about buying a Mac Time Machine, don't! Because this design flaw makes the thing absolutely useless.
