There have been a number of reports about houses constructed in a matter of hours with giant 3D printing machines that lay down layers of concrete. CBS News had a report this week about plans for a 3D printed community.

Question: I can certainly understand that this is a faster, more efficient technique than on-site stick-built construction. But is this really better than factory-built modular houses or ICF poured concrete or even prefab concrete panels? Is this really the wave of the future, or just a PR stunt?
