We have a Senate in Australia as well, but if I had absolute power I would abolish it and be very confident that democracy in Australia would not suffer. Is not the (sort of) representative House and the executive power of the President, moderated by the courts, sufficient for good government?
I don't know enough about the history of the Senate to have a firm opinion. I know a change like this would have no hope of success, but am interested in your thoughts.
