Data Storage on DNA

Several articles up this morning on research involving storing data on DNA strands.

Just one:

Apparently the researchers encoded an entire movie, and a variety of other file types onto a relatively small section of DNA, and then used another lab entirely to decode the information.

The articles point out that this has the potential for extreme reliability as long as the encoded DNA is stored properly.

Problem at this point is cost, thousands to do the encoding and more thousands to "read" the information, but of course that's always the case with new tech.
