Visio won't insert a new page that's a diff size

Googling didn't bring anything up, figured nothing to lose by asking...anyone ever get this? I have a Visio doc (2013, not sure if that matters) and a page that's 8.5x11. I want to create a new page that's 11x17. Won't do it. Toggling auto size makes no diff, nor anything else I've tried. This happens often...the only way around it I've found is taking a pre-existing file with diff size docs and saving that off, deleting the old stuff and putting in new, but that's unwieldy to say the least. Not sure why an older one was able and now I'm not...no updates or "fixes" to Visio have been done, I didn't create or save the files in diff ways, etc.
