Bloomberg has stated that if either Cruz or Trump get the GOP nomination and Sanders gets the Dem nomination, then he (Bloomberg) might run as a third party.
Trump says a lot of things to be taken seriously or not, but he has stated he would consider running as a third party if he does not get the GOP nomination.
So, how about a thread to discuss the scenarios:
Trump v Sanders v Bloomberg: Would Bloomberg pull more votes from the left or right?
Cruz v Sanders v Bloomberg: Same as above?
Cruz v Clinton v Trump: Bloomberg would sit this one out and back Clinton. A Clinton landslide?
Sanders v Cruz v Bloomberg v Trump: A four way race. Suppose nobody gets a majority of the Electoral college. Then what?
I tend to think it is going to boil down to a two-person race. Bloomberg would need to start working to get his name on the ballot well before he would know who the two party's nominees would be, and I doubt Trump would actually run if he does not get the GOP nomination, even if he had time to organize enough to get his name on all 50 state ballots.
Still, it is an interesting election cycle, to say the least, with the number of non-establishment politicians, the Supreme Court nomination issue, the dis-satisfaction with the major parties and of congress in general, and the political polarization we currently have.
This time around, it really seems like anything could happen.
