Non liberal or conservative scotus nominee?

I find something troubling go well we can predict supreme Court votes for both the liberal and conservative justices. I would hope that the process of reviewing a document would have less of a political bent and not line up so consistently.

Is there a nominee who wouldn't philosophically fit into the left-right system? I don't mean a moderate or someone with views from both sides, but is really outside that thinking. Is that even possible?
