A man has been jailed for eight years for attempting to murder a corpse. Supreme Court Justice Paul Coghlan on Monday said there was "an air of unreality" about the unusual case and no one would ever really know what happened on the night Daniel Darrington shot Rocky Matskassy three times in the head at point blank range. Darrington, 39, was found guilty by a jury in October last year of attempting to murder Mr Matskassy, 31, after he was already likely to have been dead. Justice Coghlan said the jury's verdict indicated they could not be satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that Darrington deliberately caused Mr Matskassy's death, but that he had intended to kill him when believing he was still alive.
