Sorry, this is kind of a multi-question.
1) If he gets the R nomination, who would he have for a VP nominee? Someone from the establishment, thus contradicting pretty much everything he's been running on but helping in the general? Or another loon? And who'd be willing to take the job? Problematic, I'd think for the establishment types. How about Mike Huckabee? Ted Cruz? Louie Gohmert? His daughter Ivanka?
2) Or if he splits off, will he be certain to pick a REAL loon? How about Sarah Palin? Ann Coulter? Alex Jones? Or, again, would he try to pick someone more to the center?
