We may not know how many people are conspiracy supporters or whether that number is growing or not. Recently I've come across (again) some video/you tubes... such as Zeitgeist... and weekly a radio show by Bonnie Falkner, called Guns and Butter which frequently provides a platform for "conspiracy theorists". These presentation are very slick (PR?) and unless the viewer or listener is "up to speed" about facts and so forth... they can easily... it seems to me... be swayed to accept the conspiracy narrative.
They are a melange of facts, innuendo, assumptions, omissions and so on... a sort of cherry picking through history to create what sounds like a credible narrative. Very few outright boldface lies to discredit these presentation.
I do not excuse the MSM or any institution including intel, and the military... they clearly have an agenda to prosper financially and maintain their relevance. One needs to take their "reports" with a huge grain of salt. We know we were lied to about WMDs in Iraq, the Gulf of Tonkin and so on and so the official position can easily suspected of PR, spin and so on.
It appears that the "history" or current events is more about PR than it is about facts... and the conspiracy guys are doing a good enough job to convince people. But how many? And why are people so emotionally invested in these beliefs?
Clearly what is missing is objectivity, facts and critical thinking to sort things out.
