Ah, the good old Heritage Foundation has some new great Real Taeks on how allowing gay marriage will totally cause an abortion apocalypse.
You see they found that in the Netherlands and Spain women tended to get married less after gay marriage was allowed. Interesting, I supposed. But (here's where things get a bit iffy) they say that because unmarried women in the United States tend to be more likely to have an abortion when they get pregnant then allowing gay marriage will cause...well they summarize things nicely for me.
Note how they weaseled in the term "traditional gendered marriage" as if that means anything.
Also, I find it interesting that they decide to completely connect these two things and totally ignore any other factors. For example, Spain has had an economy more like the setting of a Scooby Doo episode (seriously, they were always on the way to a gig in an economic dystopia) for awhile and maybe that is influencing things.

In short, forcing states to convert the traditional gendered marriage institution into a genderless institution will very likely reduce man-woman marriages by undermining some of the norms that encourage heterosexual couples to marry, which will in turn increase the number of unmarried women and, hence, the number of children aborted. |
