"7th Heaven" father accused of child molestation

Actor Stephen Collins (who played the father character in the TV show 7th Heaven) is in hot water. Currently going through an evidently bitter divorce, his wife Faye Grant revealed having tape recorded a therapy session between her, Collins, and the therapist two years ago, in which he confesses to several incidents of child molestation.

Grant has said that Collins initially spoke of the incidents to her; and after she insisted on therapy, she consulted her lawyer who advised her that secretly recording the session was legal - in California, a person may secretly record another in an attempt to gather evidence of a felony. Of course, what Collins and his therapist may have discussed is protected by client-counselor privilege, insofar as neither can be forced to testify about it. However, the tape pretty much eliminates the need for testimony about what happened during the session.
