Like most of you I am sure, I have had a variety of phones over the years, from basic Ericsson and Nokia models with battery life measured in multiple days, through to the Smart Phone era where life got worse and worse until I eventually got used to charging every night.
I assumed this was just because the phones were doing more or I was using them more, had bigger, brighter screens etc but recently I had a surprise.
On a snap decision I bought a Huawei G6 as a low cost introduction to Android for my father, and surprisingly instead ended up using it as a replacement for my ageing yet serviceable Samsung S3.
This in a large part is due to the astounding battery life, well over 48 hours between charges every damn time. For those of you who don't know, Huawei are a Chinese brand, actually the 3rd largest phone manufacturer in the world but somewhat unknown outside of Asia. I am not quite sure what they have done to it, but for a phone that has a very similar spec to the S3, it outperforms it in almost every way (apart from the Camera, Samsung are still the king of perfect low light flash shots in my book).
It has a 2000maH battery which doesn't seem excessive. The long life may be because the phone is lacking the bloatware that Samsung typically add to their models, so its not running as much unwanted stuff by default to start with, or it may be a more aggressive app management, but either way the end result is startling, at least to me.
Right now for example, it is sitting on 25%, but was last charged 2 days, 1 hour and 18 minutes ago, so I may even get 3 days life out of it this time. I am using it exactly the same way as I did my S3 and previous phones, not many calls, lots of WhatsApp, emails and camera use, and web browsing.
Now, is this unusual for new model phones, or have they all improved recently?
What is your average battery life like? Interested in all brands, OS, etc.
(Incidentally I think I have been spoiled as recently I got the Lenovo Yoga 8 tablet, which literally runs for 7 days between charges. These two purchases have skewed my perception of what an acceptable battery life should be!)
