Mrs Don and I recently performed in an open mic event at our local pub. I tried to record the event for posterity on my Windows phone using the Pocket Recorder app. The Pocket Recorder app is supposed to produce an MP3 file and when I look on the device there's a 8.5MB MP3 file containing about 10 minutes of performance which plays perfectly well in Windows Media Player.
What I'd really like to do is to chop it into three separate files (because we did three numbers) and lose some of the chatter before we started. I've downloaded a couple of MP3 editing apps, Audacity and Wavosaur but in both cases when I try to open the MP3 file I end up with a "squawk" less than a second long. Looking at the wave structure it seems that the who file has been loaded (there are the breaks visible between songs) but it's been compressed into less than a second.
What happened ?
How do you reckon I can edit the MP3 ?
