Awhile back, I started a thread where I posted my suspicions that the president of my local teacher's union had taken money from the school district for funeral expenses for her daughter.
I had a talk with her (the union president) and she admitted the district advanced her her next month's paycheck, and the district then took out the money they advanced her out of her next paycheck, so the whole thing was like a payday loan (the amount was about $1,300).
Can a school district do that? That's taxpayer money and it doesn't seem like they should be able to loan it out to employees through payday advances, and especially not for presidents of unions.
